Rehearsals start for original Musical "Standard Issue: One Each" staged reading

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

With a very short turnaround for the public Staged Reading of "Standard Issue: One Each", the cast has been rehearsing as schedules will allow. The reading is only days away on August 27, 2023 at the Market Street Conservatory in Marion, IL and is free and open to the public. The goal of the reading is for actors to read and sing the music through the entire show while being accompanied by Derek M Hamblin on the piano.

This staged reading comes after three previous table reads to help the librettists continue to edit the show and music to tell the best story possible on stage. This is the first time that "Standard Issue: One Each" will be read in front of a public audience and feedback from the audience is vital for future edits of comedic timing, character development and storyline, music styles and lyrics, and overall enjoyment of the production.

There are many veterans involved in the process of this show, including co-writer Henry Deiters (Army), Director Tim Robinson (Navy), Actors Steve Wiseman* (Marines/Army), Elizabeth Strusz (Navy) and Zach Mitchell (Army), Reader Josh Harmon* (Army), and Consultants Tom Kadela* (Army), Tobi Cunningham* (Army), and Ethan Blumhorst* (Army). The full production of the show is scheduled for June 21-23, 2024 at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center in Marion, IL.

* denotes first time involvement in musical theater.
